Lastman is a multimedia French series and one of my top special interests of all time! Spanning twelve graphic novels (six in the USA as they published them in groups of two), two seasons of animation, one spin-off comic, and one video game, there's a lot of content to pour over!



The first season in particular is something of a comfort show for me. It follows the story of Richard Aldana, a deadbeat boxer who ends up invovled with much more than he bargained for after his mentor, Dave McKenzie goes missing. There's a lot to be said about what happens, but I'd rather not spoil it for new watchers! Please be warned the show is Very violent and sexual at times, and deals with many dark themes. The first episode of the English Dub can be found below, though the rest of the series is no longer available legally as VRV shut down in 2023 (the series has been Archived on the Internet, however, so it isn't lost media!)

Cristo Canyon
My favorite mysterious masked individual!! I think he is so cool and especially love what the second arc of the comics does with him (though the season two retcons make for better writing imo). He is a transgender icon!!!


Tomie Katana
I'd be a fool not to include her! My favorite lady from the series and one who is constantly being wronged by the narrative...Tomie baby take my hand I will rescue you from the French misogyny that plagues this franchise...


Coldkane
I was very obsessed with this guy in high school for reasons that, today, are a bit foreign to me. I have a soft spot for him still even though he is basically just an evil cocaine gijinka...I must admit I miss him a little!
