Merry Christmas 2022!

Happy Holidays everyone! I definitely have been getting into the holiday spirit this year, and, apparently, so have my coworkers! This is my first Christmas at my current office-adjacent job, so I wasn't quite sure what the ettiquite was for the holiday. Imagine my surprise when I received so many cards! I've been displaying them on top of my desk during my shift, and was quite charmed by how varied the depictions of Santa Claus were. Let's dive into the cards and rate these jolly fellows!

Christmas card featuring a gnomish Santa

Starting off with a solid entry here! I'm a big fan of how gnome-like this particular Santa depiction is; while he isn't as round as a Santa should be, I like the usage of him as a replacement for the letter A. Is he wearing a dress here? I support his exploration of his more feminine side. 5/5 on the Clausometer™ for this progressive Santa!

Christmas card featuring a repeated pattern. Most notably, a lack of any Santa Claus!

Hey, wait a minute! Santa isn't here at all! However, his presence is still felt in this pattern, most notably with his signature red and white hat and "Ho Ho Ho!" laugh. While this card is very cute, I'll have to give it a ranking of 1/5 on the Official Clausometer™. I'm sure you understand...

A sinister Santa Claus is seen shushing a small dog by a roaring fire.

Hm...I'm not sure I like the look of this guy. He has a bit of sinister vibe, right? I would not be surprised if he was about to throw those presents in the fire...this is certainly a Santa I would not take a photo with in a crowded mall. I do like the setting of this particular card, however, and the inclusion of a puppy is a plus. This Santa gets a 3/5 on the Clausometer™. Hey...how'd this guy get into the house with that roaring fire going? Doesn't he come down the chimney?

A rather svelte Santa is seen wrapping a scarf around a snowman.

I think the snowman is the real star of the show in this card, but this is definitely a solid Santa as well! I like how his beard blends in somewhat with the trim on his jacket, and the snowman has a very friendly smile to him. However...this is a bit of a skinny Santa, isn't it? He needs a little more meat on his bones, in my opinion. I'm taking half a point off for this, leaving us with a 4.5/5 on the Clausometer™.

Four glittering Santas stand in a row.

We're getting a little greedy here with the amount of Santas, right? I took points off the last one for being too skinny, so I'm happy with the circular nature of the Santas featured here. While I can't complain about the appearance of these guys, I must admit that my desk has quite a bit of glitter fallout on it from this particular card, so I'll take a point off for that. That leaves us with a 4/5 on the Clausometer™. If you're thinking these rankings are completely arbitrary...you're right!

The Platonic Ideal of Santa stands before us, displaying two of his favorite stockings.

Now THIS is a Santa! Big fan of this guy; he's got a kind smile and just the right amount of fluff to him. This is exactly the kind of Santa I want out of my Christmas cards, 0 notes here for improvements. I dare say it, I'm giving this Santa a 6/5 on the Clausometer™, I really like this guy!

From me to you, I hope you enjoy this holiday season! Here's to spending time with loved ones and exchanging gifts!
